​With a population of approximately 4,000, West Liberty has the advantage of being only 18 miles from Iowa City, 22 miles from Muscatine, and 48 miles from the Quad Cities. Our community is a blend of families who have been here for generations and new families join our community every year. We have residents from Latin America, South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. With a Hispanic/Latino population of 52%, it’s safe to say that we have a bilingual community that makes us unique and rich in culture.

Schools

​West Liberty High School was ranked the number one high school in Iowa according to US News “Best High Schools 2018 Rankings”. The West Liberty Community School District has a Dual Language Program for K-12 students that enables students to learn core curriculum in both English and Spanish. More than 51% of our High School students speak both Spanish and English, or are working to become bilingual!

Entertainment

​From the historic New Strand Theater downtown, to the Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre Company, to the West Liberty Golf and Country Club, there’s plenty to do in West Liberty. There are eight city parks which include a veterans' memorial monument, swimming pool, skate park, athletic complex, 100+ year-old train depot, walking trails, and much more! From the Muscatine County Fair in July, to the Holiday Open House in November, Music in the Park in the summer, WLAAC’s community art classes in February, and September's Latino Festival and Children's Festival, there is always something to do in West Liberty.
